János Salamon is a professor of philosophy. He is currently writing on questions of political and moral philosophy, a project based on a comparative study of ancient and modern perspectives.

Some of the topics of his current focus:
  • the ancient Greek concept of education (paideia) and its modern (Enlightenment) evolution;
  • a comparative analysis of Athenian and American democracy;
  • an analysis of the Socratic-Aristotelian concept of akrasia (weakness of will), the political and moral philosophical implications of collective akrasia; the problem of political irrationality inherent in democracies: discursive dilemma
