All applicants (with the exceptions listed below) are required to take an entrance examination either in Budapest or in the applicant's home country. The entrance examination consists of a multiple choice language proficiency test in English, a Test of Written English, an essay assignment on general topics for Art History, Studio Art, Communication and Political Science majors, or a test in Mathematics (Arithmetic and Basic Algebra) for Business and Economics majors, and a personal interview.
For applicants wishing to enter the program in the Fall Semester, the examinations in Budapest are usually held in the third week of June. Another entrance exam is offered for late applicants in the third week of August.
For applicants wishing to enter the program in the Spring Semester, an entrance examination will be administered in Budapest in the third week of January.
The examination fee in Budapest is EUR 30. If the entrance exam takes place outside Budapest, in the home country of the applicant, an additional fee will be charged.
Exemption from the language proficiency test is given to those applicants who have

graduated from a registered international high school with English as the language of instruction with at least "C" average,
-
passed the SAT with a minimum score of 450 on the verbal part,
-
a valid TOEFL Score Record of at least 190 on the computer-based test (520 on the paper-based version) will not be required to take the language proficiency test.
The Test of Written English (TWE) will, however, be required of all applicants taking the entrance examination.
Exemption from the entrance examination is given to those applicants who have

obtained an International Baccalaureate Diploma with adequate scores,
-
taken an American college-bound exam (SAT Scholastic Aptitude Test) with scores of at least 500 on the verbal part and mathematics, respectively,

obtained a British General Certificate of Secondary Examination (GCSE) and have "A" level exams in three subjects or "AS" level exams in four subjects.
