McDaniel College Budapest

Application for the residence permit
You are required to submit your application for a residence permit to the Immigration Office at least ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE EXPIRY of your "D-5" residence visa. Please note that the duration covered by the student visa is counted from the date of issuance and not from the date of your arrival in Hungary. The residence permit is granted for a period of one year, and it has to be renewed if necessary.

If your "D-5" residence visa were to expire some time in the summer and you plan to return to your home country for the summer holiday, it is advisable to apply for the residence permit earlier to make sure that you can return to Hungary without having to apply for a new student visa.

NEW! Students are no longer required to undertake the five medical tests when applying for the residence permit for the first time. They are expected to declare on the application form that they do not suffer from AIDS, leprosy, lues (veneral disease), tuberculosis, or typhoid diseases, nor are they carriers of HIV, typhoid or paratyphoid.
